One photo, one document profile, one price

Last updated 16 September 2026

Draft, pending legal review

No lawyer has read this page. The binding versions are on terms and refunds.

Full check and preparation $9.90

One payment, for one person and one document. The same price for either supported profile. No subscription. No account needed to buy. Taxes are calculated at checkout and shown before you pay.

Payments are in test mode

No order can be paid for with real money right now. The payment integration is configured against the provider's test environment, no card can be charged, and nothing on this site can take your money today. This page describes what the price will be, not a live shop.

What is free

The automated check. Start an order, upload a photograph, and you get the full result before anyone asks you for anything: every rule we measured, what we found, what we could not check and why, and the official wording behind each rule. No account, no email address, no card, no watermark over the answer.

You can do that as many times as you like, with as many photographs as you like. There is no limit, and no version of this where checking costs you a credit.

We also refuse to charge you for a photo we already know is unusable. If the free check finds a problem that means the file cannot be submitted at all, checkout will not open. Take another photo instead.

What the $9.90 buys

US passport — paper application (form DS-11 or DS-82) — $9.90

  • Your original photo. Exactly the file you uploaded, unchanged, so you always have the untouched original.
  • Print-ready 2×2 inch photo. Your photo cropped to the 2×2 inch frame with the head sized between 25 and 35 mm, ready to print on photo paper.
  • 4×6 inch print sheet. Six copies of the 2×2 photo laid out on a 4×6 inch sheet, so a one-hour print booth costs you a few cents.
  • Printing and submission checklist. What paper to use, what to check before you print, and the exact wording of the rules your photo was measured against.
  • A trained reviewer. A person looks at your photograph for the things software cannot judge — expression, eyes, shadows, whether anything is covering your face. Every paid order, not a sample.
  • Retakes at no extra cost. If the reviewer asks for a different photo, or you simply want to try a better one, uploading again under this order never charges you again.

We check your photo against the State Department’s published paper-application rules and give you a print-ready 2×2 inch layout. We do not retouch your photo, we do not submit anything to the State Department, and we cannot promise how they will decide.

US passport — online renewal upload — $9.90

  • Your original photo, unchanged. Byte-for-byte the file you uploaded. This is what you upload to the State Department — their application does the cropping.
  • Your checked report. Every rule we measured, what we found, and which rules only a person can judge — with the State Department’s own wording next to each one.
  • Crop-and-upload walkthrough. How to position your photo in the State Department’s own crop tool, so you do not have to guess what "head and shoulders centred" means.

We check your photo against the State Department’s published online-renewal rules and hand back your original file untouched, with instructions for their crop tool. We do not crop, convert or edit the file, because State asks for the original. We do not submit anything on your behalf.

What a retake costs

Nothing. Not the first one, not the fifth. A re-upload runs under the same order and deliberately never touches the payment state. This is not a goodwill gesture we might withdraw — it is how the order works, because a check that is only affordable once is not much of a check.

How tax is shown

Dodo Payments is our merchant of record. It is the legal seller for the transaction and it collects and remits sales tax, VAT and GST according to where you are. Tax is calculated at the checkout step and shown to you before you confirm, so the total you agree to may be higher than the list price above, and your receipt and bank statement will name Dodo rather than IDPhoto.now.

If you pay in a currency other than ours, the payment provider may convert it. The foreign exchange fee on such a payment is not refunded if the order is later refunded — that is the provider's rule and it is set out on the refund policy.

No subscription, no account, no stored card

  • One payment, one order. Nothing recurs. There is no plan to cancel and no renewal to forget about.
  • No account is required to buy. You give an email address at the payment step so you can receive a receipt and a message when the review is done. Typing it does not create an account, does not log you in, and does not link any other orders to you.
  • We never see or store your card details. The payment happens on the provider's own hosted checkout.

The price you saw is the price you pay

When you start an order we record the price against it. If we later change what we charge, an order you already opened is unaffected — the figure is snapshotted onto the order rather than looked up again at checkout.

What is not included

These are real costs of applying for a passport, and none of them is ours to charge or to refund.

  • Government fees. The application fee, execution fee and any expedited-service fee go to the authority, not to us.
  • Printing. For a paper application you print the sheet we lay out, on matte or glossy photo paper. A print shop or a self-service kiosk will charge you for that, and it is usually pennies.
  • Postage, travel and appointments.
  • An acceptance guarantee. It is not on sale here at any price, because it is not ours to sell. The decision belongs to the issuing authority.

Refunds

If our work was wrong, or you are unhappy with it, you get a free retake or your money back — your choice. What can never be covered is the authority's decision or money you paid to anybody else. The worked list of situations and outcomes is on the refund policy.
