Add your photo

For your US passport (renew online). We will check it against U.S. Department of State — Passport Services's published requirements and tell you what we find — before you pay anything.

Before you take it

  • Stand about a metre from a plain white or off-white wall.
  • Face a window or a lamp, so the light is in front of you and not behind.
  • Look straight at the camera, head level, both eyes open, mouth closed.
  • Take off glasses, hats and anything covering your face.
  • Ask someone to take it if you can — an arm's length selfie is usually too close.

Send us the original photo from your camera roll. Do not edit it, crop it, or run it through a filter or an AI tool — U.S. Department of State — Passport Services requires an unaltered photograph and says it checks for this.

JPEG or PNG, up to 25 MB. On a phone this opens your camera or your camera roll. If your photo is a HEIC file we can read its size but not its contents — we will tell you how to save it as a JPEG.

Checking is free. You will see everything we found before you decide whether to pay.

What happens to my photo?

It goes into private storage that is not reachable from the internet. We keep your original exactly as you sent it — we never edit, retouch or regenerate it.

If you do not pay, we delete it within 24 hours. If you do, we keep it for 30 days so you can come back for the file, and you can ask us to delete it sooner at any time.

We do not use your photo to train anything, and we do not keep a face database. Read the privacy policy.
